Why Public Safety Dive Teams Use Full Face Masks

Full face masks allow the diver to breathe through the nose and mouth while maintaining a secure seal around the face—an advantage in low visibility, task-loaded, and contaminated-water environments.

Common benefits include:

  • Improved diver safety and regulator retention during work

  • Communication-ready configurations for team coordination

  • Better protection of the diver’s airway in contaminated environments

Divator Breathing Valve Performance (Field-Proven)

The Divator breathing valve is one of the most thoroughly tested breathing valves available for professional diving. It is designed to perform reliably in harsh operational environments—including mud, oil, and fast-flowing cold currents—without serious impact on performance.

The breathing valve is balanced, maintaining extremely low breathing resistance at all diving depths, even if secondary pressure varies. High airflow capacity combined with low breathing resistance helps improve diver endurance during demanding underwater work.

A one-way valve in the inhalation channel helps prevent water from entering the valve mechanism, reducing the chance of freezing and preventing the valve from sticking open in cold water conditions.

Low Volume Visor & Inner Mask (Reduced CO₂ Rebreathing)

The Divator’s low-volume visor reduces positive buoyancy created by air inside the mask. The inner mask design minimizes “dead space,” helping reduce CO₂ re-inhalation and improving breathing efficiency during longer dives.

If water enters the mask, it can be easily drained using the purge button on the breathing valve.

Communications Ready + Spectacle Insert Support

The Divator mask is prepared for underwater communications, and the airflow design helps reduce turbulence noise, improving communication clarity.

The mask also includes retainers for spectacle inserts for divers who require corrective lenses.

Secure Five-Strap Head Harness

The rubber head harness uses five straps tightened and locked by stainless steel buckles. The wide, soft sealing edge conforms to the diver’s face for an effective seal and stable fit during operations.

Safety Pressure vs Normal Pressure

The Divator breathing valve is available with safety pressure or normal pressure.

Safety Pressure

Safety pressure activates automatically when the diver takes the first breath in the mask. This reduces the risk of inward leakage and is especially important for contaminated water diving. Safety pressure is maintained regardless of the diver’s breathing rate or air consumption.

Normal Pressure

Normal pressure functions similarly to a standard regulator configuration and is commonly used for non-contaminated water environments and training applications.

Materials and Color Options

The Divator full face mask is available in:

  • Natural Rubber (preferred by many PSD teams; durable and decontamination-friendly)

  • Silicone (soft comfort option)

Color options include black, yellow, and grey depending on configuration.

Optional accessories and variants may include Divator Hatch.
