Public Safety Dive Team Readiness Support Program
At Sink or Swim Scuba, we understand that public safety divers need more than occasional formal training to stay sharp. Real comfort, confidence, and readiness in the water come from time spent diving.
Recently, one of the public safety dive team members we train shared something that many teams deal with: they value the training, but department policies and equipment limitations often make it difficult for individual team members to dive outside of official department training days.

Supporting Continued Public Safety Diver Proficiency
The Public Safety Dive Team Readiness Support Program is designed to help qualified public safety divers get more time in the water when possible.
When equipment availability allows and it does not interfere with scheduled classes, training events, or shop operations, Sink or Swim Scuba may provide complimentary use of select rental equipment for qualified public safety divers who want to continue building comfort, confidence, and proficiency outside of formal team training.
Why We Are Offering This
Public safety diving is serious work. Whether a team is training for search operations, recovery work, low-visibility environments, full face mask use, or general watermanship, divers benefit from consistent time in the water.
Our goal is simple: support the divers and teams who serve their communities by helping them maintain and improve their skills whenever practical.
What Equipment May Be Available
Depending on availability, this support may include select items such as:
- BCD rental
- Regulator rental
- Cylinder rental
- Weights
- Exposure protection when available
- Other basic recreational scuba rental equipment
Equipment availability is not guaranteed and must be coordinated in advance.
Program Requirements
To participate, divers must meet basic qualification and safety requirements. These may include:
- Current scuba certification
- Proof of public safety dive team affiliation
- Completion of required rental paperwork
- Proper dive planning and buddy procedures
- Approval from Sink or Swim Scuba staff
- Equipment availability at the time requested
This program is intended to support responsible, qualified divers. Sink or Swim Scuba reserves the right to approve or decline equipment use based on safety, scheduling, equipment availability, certification level, or other operational considerations.
Built to Support Teams, Not Replace Team Training
This program is not intended to replace official department training, ERDI training, team operations, or agency-directed dive team standards.
Instead, it is designed to help motivated public safety divers gain additional water time, improve comfort, and continue developing the basic diving skills that support safer and more effective team performance.
Training, Equipment, and Support for Public Safety Divers
Sink or Swim Scuba works with public safety dive teams throughout the region by providing training, equipment support, full face mask service, regulator service, drysuit support, and public safety diving consultation.
