I Learned to Dive at a Resort—Am I a Scuba Diver?
Many people experience their first taste of scuba diving while on vacation at a resort. If this sounds like you, you may be wondering: Am I really a certified scuba diver? The truth is, while resort diving can be a fun introduction, it does not provide full scuba certification. What Is a Resort Dive?
Most resorts offer a Discover Scuba Diving experience, which is a short program that allows non-certified individuals to dive under the direct supervision of an instructor. While Discover Scuba programs can be exciting, they often do more harm than good. Many divers realize that resort dive shops take them out into the ocean with minimal instruction or supervision.
