Barry Moore brings over four decades of diving experience to the Sink or Swim Scuba team, having been actively involved in diving since 1978. As one of the most experienced Divemasters on staff, Barry plays a key role in supporting diver training, dive operations, and complex underwater work.
Barry has assisted with numerous recoveries and underwater construction projects throughout North Carolina, including operations as far away as Sylva, NC. His experience in these demanding environments contributes valuable real-world perspective to training scenarios and operational planning, particularly when dives involve low visibility, heavy equipment, or elevated risk.
A strong advocate for technical diving, Barry is deeply involved in the dive community. He serves on the board of the PDRA and is the Quarry Manager at the Lake Norman location, where he helps oversee dive site operations, safety protocols, and diver access in a challenging controlled environment.
In addition to operational work, Barry has served as a Divemaster for many training classes, supporting instructors and students across a wide range of recreational and advanced programs. His calm presence, attention to detail, and deep understanding of dive procedures help create a safe and effective learning environment for students at all levels.
Barry also brings a career’s worth of experience in emergency services, having served on both the law enforcement and EMS sides. This background enhances his ability to support divers and teams operating in high-stakes situations, reinforcing the importance of preparedness, situational awareness, and disciplined execution.
Barry’s combined experience in technical diving, emergency response, underwater operations, and dive site management makes him an invaluable asset to Sink or Swim Scuba and the broader diving community. His depth of knowledge, steady leadership, and commitment to safety are trusted by instructors, students, and public safety professionals alike.
