A Real-Life Rescue Experience
One of the most impactful rescue diving experiences I had was at a well-known race held at our local whitewater center. I was contacted to provide water rescue support for a high-level athletic competition that featured a deep-water section. While life jackets were optional for those who weren’t strong swimmers, many competitors underestimated the depth or were so focused on the race that they jumped in without realizing the risk.
Over the course of two days, I personally rescued about 15 individuals from drowning—the most saves I’ve ever made in a single weekend. Who Can Enroll?
This course is open to certified Open Water Divers aged 18+ (or 15 with parental consent). If you’re passionate about diving and want to become a more competent and responsible diver, this training is for you.
Prerequisites & Additional Training
To enroll in the Rescue Diver Course, divers must have current certifications in CPR, first aid, and oxygen provider courses. Don’t have these yet? No worries!
