Duane Jenkins

SDI Scuba Instructor

Duane Jenkins is a dedicated SDI Scuba Instructor at Sink or Swim Scuba who believes great instruction starts with creating a calm, supportive learning environment. Known for his relaxed and approachable teaching style, Duane helps students build confidence while maintaining strong safety awareness and high training standards.

Duane has expanded his diving experience through advanced training, including Advanced Nitrox, Cavern Diver, TDI Sidemount Diver, and Cave Diver certifications, earned in challenging and rewarding environments such as the cave systems of Mexico. These experiences allow him to bring real-world perspective into his classes and help students better understand dive planning, equipment configuration, and situational awareness.

In addition to scuba instruction, Duane teaches Adult and Child Emergency Care and Oxygen Administration courses through Sink or Swim Scuba, using the First Response Training International curriculum. These programs support divers, families, and professionals by emphasizing preparedness, emergency response skills, and overall safety—both in and out of the water.

Duane also holds VIP Inspector certification, reinforcing his strong understanding of scuba equipment safety and inspection standards. This technical knowledge complements his role as an instructor and helps students appreciate the importance of properly maintained life-support equipment.

Beyond teaching, Duane plays an important role in supporting daily operations at Sink or Swim Scuba. His background in scouting instilled a strong sense of leadership, responsibility, and community service, qualities that carry through in his teaching and interactions with students and teammates.

When he’s not teaching or working at the shop, Duane enjoys traveling with Sink or Swim Scuba, continuing his own education, and sharing his passion for diving with others. He also values time with family, believing that even the most dedicated divers understand the importance of balancing adventure with the people who matter most.
